I wasn’t planning to write today, but something got my dander up, so here we are. It is this, the intro to a podcast about a Catholic approach to money that a friend posted on social media. I haven’t listened to the podcast — when I don’t have a lot of commuting time, I’m terrible at podcasts — but I want to respond to some things in the intro article.

This was so, so good. You do a good job capturing that both/and situation we find ourselves in at this point in time (and in the Western world). I'm one of 4, and my husband is an only child. Our parents are on opposite sides of the country, so thinking long-term about these things gives my husband some anxiety as an only child (even if both our sets of parents are well-off & have been prudent and wise savers.) But man.... for our own generation, adequately saving for retirement on top of all the other types of savings one can/should do seems almost impossible sometimes!

We’ll keep our 401K.
